Tyler Soucy is only 26 years old, but he’s already been a part of the Whittier Health Network for nine years! Originally from Rowley, Massachusetts, his healthcare career started in high school when he enrolled in Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Healthcare Occupations Program. This program partners with Whittier’s skilled nursing facilities to prepare students for the state Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam.
Over his tenure with Whittier Health Network, Tyler has held multiple positions that have increased his knowledge within the healthcare industry in many different disciplines. Beginning as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Masconomet Healthcare Center in 2015, Tyler worked the 3-11 pm shift on a long-term care floor. While working there, he instantly loved working with geriatric patients. He says: “I fell in love with geriatrics because older generations have so much wisdom and experience to share with the younger generations. They have so many great stories and experiences to share, and I felt it was my time to care for them and give them the life they deserved.”
After a few years, Tyler took the Nursing Staff Coordinator position at Masconomet. As the Nursing Staff Coordinator, he had the opportunity to hone his skills in scheduling and payroll, and he also began building relationships with local schools to hire new graduate CNAs.
Tyler’s next position at Masconomet was the Administrative Assistant. Tyler worked closely with the Administrator and worked as the facility’s Human Resources representative. He also gained billing knowledge and supervisory skills.
Tyler then advanced to become Masconomet’s Admissions Coordinator. In this position, Tyler worked on building relationships with local hospitals to gain referrals and secure admissions for short-term patients and potential long-term residents at Masconomet. He worked closely with the families of new patients and became an ambassador representing Masconomet in the community.
In May of 2022 Tyler assumed the position of Corporate Recruiter. In this position, Tyler managed the recruitment efforts for all six Skilled Nursing Facilities and the two Rehabilitation Hospitals. Tyler said, “I gave credit and thanked Whittier for all of the amazing opportunities I have been able to have and use to build my career and skills.”
“Working as the Corporate Recruiter was one of the best opportunities Whittier has given me,” says Tyler. “As the Corporate Recruiter, I built relationships with the fantastic Whittier employees, students from local schools and other experienced healthcare professionals. One important task that I took on daily was to recruit new graduates from local schools. Doing this, I expressed to young professionals the importance of beginning their career with a company that actually cares about them and their career goals. They continue to help me secure a better future for myself because that is what Whittier is all about!”
Most recently Tyler has joined the team at our Hannah Duston location in Haverhill, MA. Tyler is now the Director of Admissions at this location. As the Director of Admissions, Tyler has been able to utilize his skills to provide a smooth transition from the acute facilities into our beautiful and dedicated Hannah Duston Skilled Nursing facility. Tyler directs the admission of patients into Hannah Dustons’s Short Term Rehabilitation Unit and also the Long Term Care units as well. “I am so thankful for all of the opportunities given to me by Whittier Health Network and come to work happy everyday because I respect and admire the company and the people I work with!”
