Hello! I’m Rebecca Roman, administrator of Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough. I’d like to welcome you and tell you a bit about our services.
Whittier offers all levels of post-acute inpatient rehabilitative services tailored to meet your individual patient needs. We also have a well-established ambulatory Outpatient Therapy Program where you can receive physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
We are known for exceptional care developed around the individual needs of each patient. Our interdisciplinary team approach supports excellent outcomes. Our staff are provided the necessary skills to care for medically complex and critically ill patients in a rehabilitative setting.
At Whittier we offer three levels of post-acute rehabilitative care. Our Long-term Acute Care Hospital, or LTACH unit, often takes patients directly from the ICU. These types of patients require complex critical care in a rehabilitative setting and often require a longer length of stay and a daily physician visit.
Our doctors are on-site 7 days a week and we provide medical tele-health coverage overnight until 7 a.m. Thus, we offer 24/7 medical staff coverage to meet all of our patients’ needs.
Our Inpatient Acute Rehab Facility, or IRF unit, specializes in individuals who require intensive acute rehabilitation and have a goal of discharging home. Our focus is on improving functional mobility and activities of daily living to increase our patients’ level of independence.
We provide hemodialysis for both LTAC and IRF patients in our comfortable on-site dialysis suite.
We have a simulated apartment that allows the Whittier therapist to assist patients while they practice meal prep, washing dishes, and laundry, all of which are needed for a successful return to daily living at home.
Our third level of inpatient care is our Transitional Care Unit, or TCU, which offers short-term rehabilitative care for those patients that require additional time to transition home after a hospital stay. We are proud to say that our TCU has been deemed a five-star facility by the Department of Public Health.
Our Outpatient Department provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy to a wide range of patients with varying diagnoses like back pain, stroke recovery, neurological disorders, and orthopedic and sports injuries.
