Nursing

Specialty: Wound Care Specialist

Kim Peters on healing patients at The Whittier Wound Center at Bradford: “Whittier is an amazing place to practice wound care…I get to work with a great team in a setting that presents many challenging cases…we are able to use cutting edge modalities and products that rely on today’s best and most current evidence-based practice guidelines, therefore, our results are excellent…

For me, when I realized that there was a nursing specialty that once I became good at, I could make such a difference in patient’s lives, I knew wound care was for me. Because wounds are frequently painful and debilitating, this specialty allows me to be part of a process that frequently alleviates suffering and returns the patient to functioning—what’s better than that?

And the fact that our program allows us to follow the patient through the continuum of care (hospital, homecare and outpatient) is a win-win situation for the patients and the wound team. Wound care has become a very rewarding career for me and being a part of so many patients’ recovery is a true privilege.
