Prosthetics & Orthotics at Whittier: Enhancing Mobility and Quality of Life
Blending science, art, and compassion, our partnership with Cornell Orthotics & Prosthetics provides convenient, individualized evaluations and customized solutions for fitting artificial limbs and orthopedic braces for our patients.
At Whittier, we help patients with amputations regain their mobility
Our weekly clinics with professionals from Cornell Orthotics & Prosthetics help patients with amputations receive and manage a prosthetic limb. Our patients utilize the Orthotics Clinic for assistance with providing and managing any type of body bracing. Clinics are held at both our Bradford and Westborough locations, offering different levels of care to patients in the local areas, and our working relationship is well-integrated – referring patients back and forth.
During our clinics, patients are under the care of a comprehensive team of professionals. This team includes skilled and experienced prosthetists and orthotists, physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and other clinicians. With fully functioning labs and access to the PT and OT gym areas in both locations, we ensure that all your needs are met, providing a sense of security and comfort.

If wound care or therapy is needed, it happens on-site, without delay. Our clinic is fully integrated with our Wound Care Center, where patients have access to advanced wound management modalities through an interdisciplinary team approach that is unique to our program. Referrals and scheduling
- Inpatient: Patients are normally referred to our service by a hospital surgical team after amputation. GPs and other healthcare professionals can also refer patients to us. Whittier will send the order and face sheet to Cornell and coordinate the next appointment.
- Outpatient: Whittier usually calls Cornell’s Beverly office or advises patients to do the same. When we get any orders for prosthetics for outpatients, we fax them over to Cornell so the process can begin. Cornell does the scheduling and coordinating.
- Bradford – Our clinic is held every Thursday in the Outpatient Clinic. Contact Cornell Orthotics to schedule an appointment.
- Westborough – Contact Cornell Orthotics at (978) 922-2866 for information, as their schedule varies from week to week.
