MARION — The Sippican Healthcare Center celebrated its 25th anniversary with a party on Thursday evening. The center had a pianist in the lobby, and chairs and tables set up on the back patio where food and drinks were available for guests.

According to the center’s activity director, Anne O’Connell-Bishop, around 100 invitations were sent out to people from the Marion community, those who helped the center succeed or provided services to its residents.

O’Connell-Bishop emphasized the importance of working well with the town to meet the needs of the residents.

It’s important to work with the community,” she said. “We have to have a good relationship with all the people who give their time to us. It takes a team of people to take care of the needs, and we are fortunate to have a great community in Marion.

Working with Marion residents to provide care and services to the center’s residents means a lot to the center’s administrator, Karen Wadlow.

A resident told us we’re a hidden gem,” she said. “It means a lot because of all the special things we try and do for our residents.”

The Sippican Healthcare Center opened in 1990 as a 123 bed facility offering medical, nursing and rehabilitation care, as well as nursing and therapeutic services.
